How to live your life above Physiological needs
The world is a system that operates on
certain principles and governed by laws. Psychologists have over the years
tried to figure out how people respond to their environment and how they are
affected by their needs. This prompted Abraham Maslow a psychologist in 1954 to
come out with a theory called the “Hierarchy
of needs”
According to Maslow, needs have
sequence of domination, unless and until the need of the lower levels are
reasonably satisfied, those of the higher order do not dominate. He said once
one need is satisfied another need emerges and demand satisfaction.
Maslow Hierarchy of needs
Self
actualization/ fulfillment needs
Self
esteem/status needs
Belonging/
social needs
Safety/security
needs
Physiological
needs (Food, cloth and shelter)
According to Maslow, when a man is
hungry he does not think of any other thing until his quest for food is
satisfied.
“Man’s behavior is directly related to his need”- Abraham Maslow
Abraham Maslow did a good job in his
analysis of the physical perspective of man, this is why so many people living
today have never dared to think of fulfilling purpose in life because according
to Maslow it is the highest need of man. But I am proposing to you today the
direct opposite of this theory from the spiritual perspective.
You must understand that the will of
our creator is for us for fulfill the purpose why we are in this world,
notwithstanding the odds that might be against us. We were born with greatness
and potentials inside of us and that living out that greatness is fulfilling
purpose which according to Maslow is the highest need in the hierarchy.
I don’t believe that in this journey of
greatness food and cloths can be what will stop you from achieving your life’s
dream. One of the greatest teachers of all times Jesus, said “take no thought of your physiological
needs” (paraphrased)
If you have read my previous posts you
will understand the law of focus, that what you allow to dominate your mind
increases and expands, therefore don’t focus on what to eat, what to wear or
your low social status now, concentrate on where you are going and not where
you are or are coming from or where you are.
“Be consumed with fulfilling your purpose because all other needs are meant
within it”- Felix Smith A
There are two types of people living in
this world today; the need driven and the purpose drive people. Those that truly desire greatness must
be purposes driven and try to live life in the opposite of Maslow hierarchy of
needs.
Starting from the greatest
need
Self actualization/ fulfillment needs
Self
esteem/status needs
Belonging/
social needs
Safety/security
needs
Physiological
needs (Food, cloth and shelter)
When you focus on fulfilling divine
purpose for your life, all other need will automatically come to actualization.
Start living from the top!
