Going the extra mile
Winners are people who never stop were
others other stop and who never stop when others stop, they go the extra mile.
When you talk about great leaders and
read about them, one thing that always stands out is their ability to do the extra,
doing things out of their job description.
“It’s not excellence when you meet all requirements of your
duties, it’s when you meet and exceed them”- Unknown
It is not everyone that has the spirit
of going the extra mile or exceeding target and expectations, that is why you
only find one truly great man a midst a thousand. The ability of going the extra
mile is called the spirit of excellence, not limited to or by a job description
or expectation of others for us. You don’t find too many people working on the
road of the extra mile, only people who knows that true greatness is found just
a mile beyond the usual stop.
“There are no traffic Jams on the extra mile”- Zig Ziglar
Going the extra mile in your business,
work place and family is proving your true desire for success. It does not take
too much to go the extra mile, that smile that will brighten up some ones day,
that task you know is very important that you were not asked to do, going out
of your way to give a compliment to someone, staying until the job is completed,
giving to that woman in need, visiting that person, giving an extra hour to
ensure things are in place, going through over and over to ensure the errors
are minimal etc.
Doing what you are asked does not make
you indispensable it’s doing the extra that makes you more valuable. Rewards
are going not just for good work but excellence which is going the extra mile.
“Extra ordinary people are those who did the extra to ordinary
things”- Felix Smith A.
Do you know that the true joy of accomplishment
is that extra you put into it? If you must excel in your job, relationships,
studies, business, and life, you must adopt the principle of going the extra
mile, it is the surest route to winning, it makes you stand out where others
stand and outstanding, where others stand out.
So your progress in this journey of
unlocking the greatness that is in you, I recommend to you the fastest route
called ‘the extra mile’. As you make this your habit it’s sure we’ll meet at
the top!
