Make Any Boring Task become a Pure Fun and Increase Your Productivity

Next time you’ll catch yourself trying to putt important task off, take a piece of paper and answer three simple questions.
1.  Where you are?
2.  What do you want to do?
3.  How you will feel while doing it?
While writing down what do you want to do you will already imagine yourself doing it. And it won’t be very difficult for you to get up and do it.

Let’s say you’ve been putting off organizing your desk. You always find more important tasks to do and it’s never enough time to clean it and put everything in place.
Just sit down, take a piece of paper and begin writing: “It’s Monday, 8:45am. I’m sitting in my office, drinking coffee. I want to organize my desk. It will only take me about 1 hour and I will feel energetic and satisfied that I finally got it done. My desk will be clean, everything will be sorted and in place…”

Just as you’re writing it you feel the desire to get up and do it. Because you want your desk organized, you want to feel satisfied and you’ve already imagined yourself doing it.
Remember, all you have to do is to answer three questions. Where you are, what do you want to do, and how will you feel while doing it. It’s a very simple technique but it works like a magic!
The One Simple Technique That Will Make Any Boring Task A Pure Fun And Increase Your Productivity By More Than 125%!
Do you know how to turn monotonous boring task into fun?
Make a game out of it!
For example, time yourself and keep trying to improve your time. Let’s say you have to peel 20 pounds of apples.
Challenge yourself!
Set a record how many apples can you peel in 3 minutes Then try to beat your own record. Or you can time yourself to see how long it takes you to peel one apple. And beat your record again!
The good thing is you will always be a winner. You can turn any boring task into fun game. Just use a little imagination! This simple trick has proven to increase productivity by more than
125%! Use it and you’ll notice that you’re getting more work done in a less amount of time.

To your success!

How to start a business (Things to know first)

Before starting a business, you should consider some necessary things that I am want to share with you in this article.

Choosing a business Name: this is very important for a start up business, because a name is an identity, therefore you have to choose a befitting identity, name that can represent what you are doing, something unique and easy to remember. One simple technique in choosing a business name is to write up to ten names down and ask friends and relatives to choose from them, the one that was most chosen can be used. Remember, it is not about what you like but what will sell fast.

Choose your business Location: one factor that determines business success is your location. You should take time to carefully choose where you want to locate your business, and the choice should be determined by some factors like;
·         Accessibility: the people who need your product and services should be able to reach you easily.
·         Infrastructural facilities: you must be able to determine if the location has the basic infrastructural facilities you need to smoothly run your business. Examples are light, road network, telecommunication network, water etc.

Register the business Name: It is very vital for you to register your business name with the appropriate body set up by government, like in Nigeria it is the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).  You have to do that in order to secure the business name and so that you can transact business with the name. The process is easy and it is not so expensive.
When you follow these steps, you will hardly make the kind of mistakes that so many small business owners make a lot of times.
I wish you success in your business endeavor.

How to raise money for small businesses

Raising capital has been seen by intending small and medium scale entrepreneurs as one major challenge in this part of the world. Commercial banks do not easily give loans to small start-up businesses mostly because they cannot meet the requirements.
In this article, I am going to be showing you alternative means of raising capital for your small business.

Personal savings: if you are a worker at the moment or you do something that brings you constant money, you can start saving a part of your income consistently over a period of time. This is for people who have the mind of starting a business in the nearest future.

Sales of Personal Assets: If you have done your due diligence check and you have a well planned business in mind, you can sell a valuable asset like land to be able to raise the money. Point of caution; make sure you are very sure of the business idea before selling your asset.

Family assistance: if you are serious about starting a business, most especially when you have a well written business plan, you can meet a relation of yours that is financially buoyant to assist. Your seriousness will make the process faster.

Loan from friends: If you have a friend that can help you, ask him/her. Tell her when and how you will pay back the money.

Gratuity and Pension Benefit: If you have retired from active service, you can use your retirement benefit to start a business, instead of using it to renovate your house. This way, you will not depend on monthly pension to survive.

Receiving deposited against Supplies: you can ask for money from your clients before you provide the goods/services. Most times, it is 70% upfront that is if you have business integrity.
Group contribution:  You can join a group contribution that is locally known as “Osusu”

Loan from financial institution: some financial institutions still gives loan to small and medium scale businesses, when you meet the conditions. Microfinance banks, venture capitalist and quick loan organizations.

Make sure you have done every other things right before moving ahead to get money for your business.

To your you success!

HOW TO CONDUCT A MARKET RESEARCH FOR YOUR BUSINESS

HOW TO CONDUCT A MARKET RESEARCH FOR YOUR BUSINESS

You might be asking what business should I start, how to start a business or  any other question on your mind. After you have found your answers, the next important thing to do is check the viability if the business and this can be done through market research.
Let us move straight to the point, first let us define some basic terms that will be of importance to us in this article.

What is the market?

Individuals or companies who will purchase your product or service. They are the life line of your business, so it is very important to know what they want, how they want it and when they want it.  For you to know this you will do what is called.......

What is market research?

Market research is the systematic collection and analysis of information related to the market for your business.
You don’t want to produce goods or service you thing people might need, you will want the goods/services people actually need and are ready to pay for it. Sometimes you will think is creativity to start a business of what customers might need in the future, but it wisdom to sell what people are already looking for as a young entrepreneur.

Types of information gained from good market research:
- Market location and size.
- Market demographics.
- Market receptiveness to your product/service.
- Industry trends and outlooks.

Why is market research important?

Market research gives you important basic information that allows you to make intelligent decisions about your business. The key to good market research is to:

- Define what you need to know.
- Plan your questions and research process.

Good research questions are those with answers that lead you to better judgment about your overriding question: Will you succeed?

Good research does not guarantee success. The best it can do is give a good probability of success.

Why market research is often neglected?

- Entrepreneurs are independent by nature.
- Most feel they already know enough.
- Some think it is a waste of time.
- Failure to understand its role, instead of seeing it as insurance.
- Fear it will prove that ideas are not marketable.

How do you start a business

How do you start a business

In starting up a business depending on the country you are, there are some basic requirements from government agencies, like registering the business with corporate affairs commission if you are from Nigeria and the most important of all is the starting up processes which does not involve capital alone but other prerequisite that is most essential to your business success.
I will start from the basis and list what you have to do in order to start and run a successful business.

You got to have an idea or business you want to do in mind; this is the starting point for any business. All things are created twice, first in our mind or imagination and then in reality. You must have seen something you would love to do, a product you will love to manufacture or distribute, a service you would love to render or a skill you would love to market etc. You might have more than one option which is very much okay, when you go through the business development process, one might emerge as the ultimate for you.

You have to check if you have the traits of an entrepreneur; this would have been my first point, but because you are reading this post I have taken it that you have the drive and passion to have your own business, but as I will let you know that passion is not enough. There are traits that an entrepreneur should have for you to know that this person can be successful at running his/her own business. I will like to ask you as basic question which is; what is the reason you want to start your own business?
-          Want to be your own boss.
-          Have a terrific idea
-          Want to express your true self.
-          Lost your job.
-          Looked for job and no job
-          Personal circumstances have changed.
-          Want to work from home.
-          Want flexible hours.
-          Looking for a better balance between work and family.
-          You ever wanted to run your own business
Whatever reason you might have will not disqualify you to start up a business but you must know that there are some traits you should have to be successful. Some are; Taking personal initiative, Learning from mistakes and responding positively to all challenges, having great perseverance etc.

3.      Run a market research: As a matter of fact, most people that start their own business fail in less than five years of start off, almost 70% of new businesses do not get to survive. Market research will actually tell you that this business you are about to start is suitable for you, the environment or demographic, political climate, social relevance etc. You have to look for the people already running such business and see how they are fairing, the size of the market, customers needs, what are the basic challenges of the business and to run a SWOT(Strength, Weakness, Opportunities and threats) analysis based on your findings. There are two basic methods of conduction a market research which are’ Primary and secondary research. Primary research is you going to the field with a designed questionnaire, recorder or note to find out information from business owners and customers alike, while secondary research can be done online and from books. Nigeria does not have very good business data online.

Financial consideration: After you must have done the points above, then you have to consider your financial strength and weaknesses. Where are you going to get the money from?, will you have someone to invest in the business as a joint venture partnership, will you take a loan facility from bank, or do you have the money from savings to start your business? These are all important questions you have to answer.

You need a business plan; I have seen countless numbers of people in my business coaching profession who would want to start a business and will say there is no need for a business plan. It is like someone having money and knows he want to build a house and tell the engineer to build a house for him and he should not worry about drawing a plan. The way it sounds stupid to you now, that is the way it is when you think you do not need a business plan to run a successful business. People run away from it because they think it is a complex thing to do, yes some might be complex, like the plan of a building, depending on what you want to build that determine the complexity of the plan. To start a small business, you don’t need a complex plan but just a simple one.

In conclusion, there are many other things that need to be done but I cannot write all in one article. But I have prepared a detailed handbook on how to start a business from scratch and grow it to become successful.  Exploring Self Employment Opportunities- a Guild to business Development.  To download a preview of the copy of the book click.  FREE PREVIEW

Be an employee with a CEO mentality

Be an employee with a CEO mentality
Who is a steward? He is a person who manages or helps others to run their affairs. In a broader sense anyone who work for somebody is a steward, let’s just simply put an employee.

There are some characteristics that one will see and say this person is a good employee. Some of the key characteristics of a good employee that a CEO possesses which will always draw any employer’s attention and interest are;

Honesty: The basis for trust
Trust: The basis for relationship and loyalty
Loyalty: The true meaning of commitment
Commitment: The reason for accountability
Accountability: The sure way to productivity
Productivity: Give you more reason to be enthusiastic
Enthusiasm: The spirit of true success

In any man or woman in whom these qualities are found will never remain an employee for long because these characteristics are the pathway to ownership. While others seek promotion, Promotion and more responsibilities keep looking for these characters, for the reward of a work well done is more work, which automatically means promotion.

Any steward/employee that exhibits these traits is qualified to own whatever he/she is managing.  Whatsoever you are doing presently in your job is a direct reflection of your ability or capability to own and manage your own business. You must prove to the universe that you are qualified to be a boss by showing it through these listed qualities.

I challenge you to start developing the owner’s mentality and see yourself climb the ladder of success without stress because you have greatness in you.

To your success!
